M. Abdulally & Co.
Our Heritage

Seventy-five years of fire, family & trust.

Since 1951, one family on Old Moor Street, Colombo 12, has been bringing Sri Lanka's homes the most reliable gas appliances on the island.

The story

From rice mills to Rinnai

M. Abdulally began as a rice-milling and food-distribution business — and, quietly, as one of the first coffee roasters in Sri Lanka. But the family always had an eye for what the island needed next.

In 1975, they saw it in gas. Bringing Rinnai to Sri Lanka was not just a commercial decision — it was a conviction that Sri Lankan homes deserved world-class appliances backed by real expertise and real service.

With decades of experience and the same family ownership, M. Abdulally today enjoys a reputation built on loyalty and trust from suppliers and customers alike — island-wide, generation after generation.

Timeline
1951

A family business is born

M. Abdulally opens its doors on Old Moor Street, Colombo 12 — initially in rice milling and the imports and distribution of food products. Among the family's earliest ventures: becoming one of the first coffee roasters in Sri Lanka, supplying freshly ground coffee to hotels, restaurants and home consumers across the island.

1975

Rinnai comes to Sri Lanka

Recognising the growing demand for reliable gas appliances, M. Abdulally introduces Rinnai — then already Japan's benchmark brand for gas cooking and water heating — to the Sri Lankan market. The partnership that begins here will define the company for the next half-century.

1977

Dedicated gas appliance division

The family formally diversifies into the import and distribution of gas appliances as a primary line of business. M. Abdulally is appointed Sole Agent in Sri Lanka for Rinnai Brand table-top gas cookers, gas rice cookers and instant gas hot-water units for both domestic and commercial use.

Today

Island-wide, three generations on

Still family-owned and still on Old Moor Street, M. Abdulally now serves homeowners and commercial customers across Sri Lanka. The company introduced continuous-flow gas hot-water heating to the island — and remains to this day the only provider of gas-powered hot-water solutions here. Quality and trust, passed down through every generation.
